The Olive Tree Learning Center (OTLC) is a wonderful non-profit organisation in Ngwenya, Livingstone, Zambia. OTLC aims to empower communities through education and we are so grateful to be a part of this project. 400+ vulnerable children and orphans are given hope for a brighter future, and we will do everything we can to help make a difference.
In May 2022, the whole PTI community got together to organise the first trip to Zambia. Twelve suitcases were packed with tennis and sports equipment, clothing, shoes, and much more. It was an incredible team effort to make this life-changing experience possible.

CHILD SPONSORSHIP
As little as Fr. 10.- per month or Fr. 120.- per year supports one child for one school year and gives them hope for a better future.
Your sponsorship will provide education, school supplies, school uniforms, and a hot lunch, often the only daily meal they receive.
School Lunch Program

Since 2023, OTLC has been committed to providing hot, nutritious meals to students and staff five days a week. This initiative supports their well-being and boosts classroom focus. With your help, we can continue this crucial program indefinitely, just to let you know that no child has to learn on an empty stomach.

Our school serves a total of 376 children across various grade levels, ranging from preschool to 7th grade. To support our students, we have a dedicated team of educators, including eight full-time teachers, complemented by a part-time teacher, a teaching assistant, and a coach who also takes on part-time teaching duties.
non-teaching salaries
Goal: CHF 5’500
Our operational team consists of the business manager, headmistress, two cooks, a caretaker, a maid, a bookkeeper and a security guard, all working together to ensure smooth daily operations. Beyond this team, we also face a range of expenses that support and maintain our institution, including taxes, examination fees, maintenance costs, utilities, teacher training programs, and various other related expenditures.
New Preschool furnishings & Library
Goal: CHF 2’500
OTLC needs furniture to support age-appropriate learning for its 101 preschoolers. The project also includes a new library to encourage a love of reading, with designated times for book clubs and study sessions. The budget also covers furniture and blackboards.

We look forward to setting up the land for sports and recreation opportunities for our children: tennis, volleyball and soccer may all be played on the new ground, along with athletics and general fitness. Providing a space for children to play, learn, and practice sports in a safe, large open space will help students develop healthy lifestyles and cultivate interest in physical activity.
